FSCJ liable for $3.4M in financial aid scandal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The U.S. Department of Education now says Florida State College at Jacksonville is liable for $3.4 million in connection with its financial aid scandal.

The federal government says the dispersed financial aid for course work not required for degree or certificate.

The school plans to appeal within 45 days.

FSCJ President Cynthia Bioteau, who was not president at the time of the scandal, released this statement:

"Our commitment to moving forward remains steadfast. Serving the educational needs of students in our community is a guiding principle for Florida State College at Jacksonville.

"FSCJ is committed to providing a high-quality instruction for our students, and this process ensures that moving forward, our students can have confidence in our programs that allow them to achieve their educational goals."
