2 women accused of neglect of disabled adult

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Two Jacksonville women have been arrested on charges of neglect of a disabled adult, third-degree felonies.

After receiving information from the Department of Children and Families, Attorney General Pam Bondi's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit discovered that 47-year-old Leathia Bonner, owner of Herlea's Residential Care Group Home, and 59-year-old Linda Ginn, an employee of the group home, failed to provide medical attention to a disabled resident.

The resident was subsequently hospitalized, underwent surgery and is recovering, investigators said.

Bonner and Ginn each face up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines if convicted.

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigates the abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly, ill and disabled residents of long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, facilities for the mentally and physically disabled and assisted care living facilities.
