DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Winds flipped a lightweight plane over at the Daytona Beach Airport on Monday as storms started to move into the area.
WKMG-TV reported the Cessna flipped over into some power lines on the airport property just before 7 p.m. as it was taxiing down the runway.
Two student pilots from Phoenix East flight school on board were not injured. However, authorities said the plane, owned by Phoenix East Aviation, sustained substantial damage.
John Murray, director of public safety for Daytona Beach International Airport, said there is debris around the airport but no other damage has been reported.
Authorities said the airport remains open and did not close during the storm.
