City of Jacksonville begins spraying for mosquitos
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The City of Jacksonville started spraying for mosquitos Monday night.
Channel 4 caught the first round that was sprayed to protect the Jacksonville community from the threat of mosquitoes Monday.
The spraying truck was working on University Boulevard and Merrill Road in the Arlington area Monday night. The chemicals crews sprayed kill mosquito larvae.
Last year there were two confirmed cases of West Nile in the Jacksonville area.
The city told Channel 4 Monday night, spraying will help with prevention of the disease.
While the city is doing their part, the Centers for Disease Control recommends people protect themselves from mosquitos as well. It recommends people use repellants that contain either Deet or Picaridin.
