1 hurt in crash with Jacksonville police cruiser

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville police officer was involved in a minor crash involving three vehicles Friday morning just west of downtown.

Officer Ziegler (no first name was given) was heading east on Beaver Street at Stockton Street at about 8:30 a.m. and stopped for traffic in front of him, police said.

They said a vehicle then struck his cruiser from behind, forcing it into the back of another vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the officer's cruiser was taken to a hospital with minor injuries from the airbag. The passenger was transported for asthma, a non-crash related illness.

The officer was uninjured.
