Firefighter burns hand while battling fire

JFRD: Arson suspected at abandoned home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A firefighter with Jacksonville Fire Rescue suffered second-degree burns to his hand early Monday morning while fighting a fire.

JFRD was called to a two-story home on Hogan and Parental Home roads in the Sans Souci area shortly after midnight.

While battling the fire on the second floor, the firefighter lost a glove.

The home was abandoned and investigators said it appears transients had been at the home.

Arson is suspected. The State Fire Marshal is on scene to investigate the cause.

The home was deemed a loss.
