CALLAHAN, Fla. – A 39-year-old Georgia man was killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer Wednesday morning in Nassau County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Mark Estell of St. George, Georgia, was driving eastbound on County Road 108, also known as River Road, and was negotiating a right hand curve just before 6 a.m.
State troopers said Estell's car crossed over the double yellow line, and the front left and side of the car collided with the left rear tires of a tractor-trailer headed westbound. There was no cargo in the trailer.
Troopers said Estell died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, 50-year-old Terry Strickland of Waycross, Georgia, was not hurt.
Troopers said their investigation is ongoing and pending blood results from both drivers.
The intersection of Brandies Avenue and Mickler Street was closed for hours.
