Woman, 78, critical in head-on Arlington crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 78-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on crash in Arlington on Monday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the woman was driving her Jeep on the wrong side of Cesery Boulevard at Redberry Lane about 2 p.m.

She and the driver of the truck involved were taken to UF Health Jacksonville.

"I heard a big boom. That's it. And then I ran down my driveway and saw the two cars and smoke coming out," said resident Kat Wolfe. "I called 911 as soon as I hit the end of my driveway."

Police said it's unclear what caused the crash.

All lanes of Cesery were closed for about two hours while police investigated the crash.
