Suspicious fire destroys Westside home

JFRD: Occupants moved out; 2nd fire to home in 2 days

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JFRD is investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that destroyed a Westside home Tuesday.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a home on 2595 Carson Oaks Drive, off of Normandy Boulevard, about 7 a.m. in reference to a fire.

When firefighters arrived, black smoke and flames were coming from the roof.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out, but the home was destroyed.

No one was in the home at the time. According to JFRD, the homeowners just moved out a couple days before.

In fact, this had been the second fire to the home in two days. JFRD said they extinguished a fire in the kitchen area Monday. They are not sure where the fire initiated on Tuesday.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
