NYC condo selling parking spots for $1 million

Spaces cost more per square foot than the apartments upstairs

How much will $1 million get you in New York City? A prime parking spot, apparently.

A new condo in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood is offering buyers 10 underground parking spaces that cost more per square foot than the apartments being sold upstairs.

At $1 million each, the spots will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis, according to The Associated Press.

In SoHo, there are few to no options for parking, let alone your own spot in your actual building.

"We're looking at setting the benchmark," Shaun Osher, founder and chief executive of the brokerage firm handling sales for the condo, told the New York Times. "In real estate, location defines value and parking is no exception to that rule."

To put it even more in perspective, $1 million can get you a 5,000-square-foot house in Dallas with a wine cellar or a 3,500-square-foot-home with a sauna in Seattle.
