Soon you may be able to buy your Facebook buds a Bud.
Beer giant Anheuser-Busch is getting in on the social commerce game with the launch of two programs called "Bud Light Birthday" and "Buds for Buds."
Budweiser and the social media giant are testing online sales and gifting of beer to Facebook users starting in Chicago and Denver, with the goal of rolling out the program nationwide next year.
The Buds for Buds program lets you buy a friend a Budweiser, while the Bud Light Birthday promotion lets you earn a friend a free Bud Light on their birthday using Facebook posts.
How it works is that gift recipients simply click on the gift that was sent to them via one of their friends on Facebook, and then they redeem an online voucher at a bar or restaurant. Redeemers must show their ID to prove they are of drinking age.
This comes just days after Twitter rolled out a universal "Buy" button that marketers can employ to drive sales via tweets.
