Amtrak train hits pickup truck; driver unhurt


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – San Juan Avenue was closed near Roosevelt Avenue during the afternoon rush hour Thursday while police investigate an Amtrak train that struck a pickup truck. 


Jacksonville Fire-Rescue said the driver of the pickup was not hurt and the no one aboard the Miami to New York Silver Meteor with 146 passengers and crew suffered any injuries.

The crash happened about 4:10 p.m. on tracks just west of Roosevelt Boulevard. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that San Juan remains closed while the accident is investigated.

The train was cleared to continue on its trip about an hour after the collision.
