More than 4,000 hogs killed in farm fire

Fire results in $1M loss

More than 4,000 hogs were killed when a fire ripped through a building at a North Carolina farm.

WRAL reports that More than the fire at a farm in the Eagle Springs community of Moore County killed thousands of hogs, which ranged from 14 to 45 pounds.

Farm officials said fire crews kept the blaze from spreading to a nearby building that houses young hogs and their mothers.  

The hogs killed the fire were worth about $400,000, and the building was worth about $600,000, officials said.  

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
