Main Street Bridge work shifts to west side

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Crews with the Florida Department of Transportation have moved their work from the east side to the west side of the Main Street Bridge.

They are replacing the steel with a lighter material.

The sidewalk is closed on the west side, and during the day, southbound traffic will be down to one lane.

The entrance and exit ramps to the bridge are now open, but crews may have to close them temporarily during the night next weekend.

The entire project, which is costing about $11 million, is expected to be complete in the spring.
