Date set for Michael Dunn sentencing hearing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Judge Russell Healey on Tuesday morning set the start of Michael Dunn's sentencing hearing for 10 a.m. Oct. 17.

Dunn will be sentenced for the shooting death of an unarmed teen after an argument over loud music.

Last week, a jury convicted the former Brevard County software developer of first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

A jury deadlocked on the murder charge in February, but took less than six hours this time to come back with a guilty verdict.

Dunn had already been convicted of several other crimes related to the shooting that night outside a Gate gas station on the Southside.

Dunn faces up to 60 years in prison for those counts, and a life sentence for the murder conviction.
