Clay County cruiser, carnival truck collide

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Clay County Sheriff's Office cruiser and carnival truck crashed late Sunday night in Orange Park, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The carnival truck driven by John Jinright, 22, was driving off the curb from a church's front lawn off Kingsley Avenue east of Foxwood Drive around 9 p.m.

A Clay County Sheriff's deputy was eastbound on Kingsley Ave.

The truck pulled onto Kingsley in an attempt to make a left turn.  It was going slowly as it entered the path of the CCSO cruiser, according to FHP.

The front of the CCSO cruiser collided with the truck.  

Sgt. Jeremy Clark, 39, was transported by ambulance to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries.

Jinright had minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Orange Park Medical Center.

The eastbound lanes of Kingsley Ave. were closed during the crash investigation.

Jinright will be cited for violation of right of way, according to the FHP report.
