Sheriff candidate hurt in motorcycle crash
Rob Schoonover leading funeral procession when crash happened
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rob Schoonover, a retired Jacksonville Sheriff's Office lieutenant who is running for sheriff, was leading a funeral procession Friday afternoon when he was involved in a crash with an SUV, sources tell News4Jax.
Schoonover was leading the procession on Merrill Road at Townsend Boulevard when the crash happened just before 1 p.m.
Schoonover's injuries were non-life-threatening.
It appears he was struck by a black SUV, which remained at the scene.
No other information was provided by police.
Schoonover recently retired to focus on his run for sheriff.
