$6K reward offered in garbage truck driver's killing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A $6,000 reward is now being offered in the shooting death of a 62-year-old man who was killed last month while walking to a bus stop on his way to work.

Gary Bell was walking on Moncrief Road at 35th Street between 3 and 4 a.m. Oct. 21 as he did every morning on his way to Republic Services, where he was a garbage truck driver.

Bell was found dead on a sidewalk. Police said it appears he was being robbed at the time of the shooting.

Those who knew Bell said he was a responsible father and dedicated employee. Officials said he was not involved in any wrongdoing at the time of his killing.

Anyone with any information about the killing is asked to call First Coast Crime Stoppers at 866-845-8477. Callers can remain anonymous and receive a reward up to $6,000 cash if the information provided leads to an arrest.
