Man badly burned in chicken house fire

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A man was badly burned in a fire at a chicken house Friday afternoon in Nassau County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The fire broke out about 12:30 p.m. at 21067 County Road 121, west of Callahan and near the Florida-Georgia state line.

The man, who owns the property and was attempting to put the fire out himself, was airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville.

It's unclear what caused the fire, but the Nassau County Sheriff's Office said the chicken house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The house was burnt from end to end, causing a brush fire in the surrounding areas.
