Deputies said the woman who was shot was a suspect in a hit-and-run traffic crash that was being investigated by the Lake County Sheriff's Office and Eustis police.

Authorities have not released the woman's name, but a friend told WKMG-TV the suspect is 40-year-old Pamela Edwards.

While authorities were at the home investigating the hit-and-run, the suspect produced a handgun and threatened the officers with it, deputies said.

The suspect was listed in critical condition. Deputies said the officers were not hurt.

Edwards' father Bobby Brown said the only information he knew is that his daughter had been shot.

The two deputies and the Eustis officer were placed on administrative leave pending a preliminary review of the incident, authorities said.
