Bicyclist in Gainesville hit-and-run critical

Troopers: Suspect vehicle may be white Oldsmobile with damage


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 53-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Gainesville on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kamau Lizwelicha was hit from behind about 5 p.m. while riding north on 122nd Street, also known as Parker Road.

Troopers said the vehicle then fled the scene. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Oldsmobile and may have some damage.

Lizwelicha was transported to UF Health and remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
