ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy was charged with a misdemeanor after deputies found an unloaded airsoft gun in his locker Monday afternoon at Orange Park High School.
After receiving a report of a weapon on campus, the school was placed on lockdown, which lasted about 10 minutes.
The student was charged with disruption of a school function.
Deputies said the pellet gun was inoperable, and the student did not display it or threaten anyone with it.
The school district has its own rules and policies regarding this type of incident, and the student will face sanctions within the school district, deputies said.
