JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 20-year-old Jacksonville man was found guilty Tuesday of one count of attempted second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent found to have committed a felony act.
In May, the victim was walking at the Portside Trailer Park when Kyree Perez approached them from behind and began to argue with them about a prior incident. During the argument, Perez pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim's face, prosecutors said.
After the victim slapped the gun away, Perez shot the victim in the stomach, prosecutors said. Perez was later arrested in Philadelphia.
Perez now faces 25 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Jan. 12.
