1 shot, 1 beaten in home invasion robbery

LAKE CITY, Fla. – One person was shot and another was beaten in a home invasion robbery attempt early Friday morning, according to the Lake City Police Department.

Police said a 25-year-old man was asleep on the couch about 4 a.m. at the home in the 700 block of Southeast Dade Street when four men entered the home wearing masks.

During the assault, one of the suspects demanded, "Where is the dope at?" while another was holding a rifle, police said.

The 25-year-old was beaten and a 24-year-old man was shot once in the leg while in a bedroom, police said.

The 25-year-old was treated at the scene and the 24-year-old was flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating and do not have any suspect information.
