JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 73-year-old woman died after being struck by an SUV while crossing the road in front of her home in Queen's Harbour Yacht and Country Club on Thursday night, according to Jacksonville police.
Police said Janice Hoffer was walking near 1400 Harrington Park Drive about 6:05 p.m. when a black Chevy Tahoe heading westbound hit her.

Hoffer was taken to a hospital, where she died.
The driver, who's not a resident in the neighborhood, stopped immediately after the crash, police said. They said he didn't see the woman until he had already struck her.
Police said alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
