Beach Boulevard reopens after gas leak

Construction workers accidentally cut into gas line near Kiko's gas station

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All lanes of Beach Boulevard just east of University Boulevard reopened after they were closed for about an hour and a half Monday morning due to a gas leak, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Construction workers accidentally cut into a gas line near the Kiko's Gas Station sometime after 9 a.m., causing a gas leak.

The Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Hazmat team was called to the scene.

Traffic was rerouted from Dean Road to Terry Road, then onto University Boulevard to get back onto Beach Boulevard. All lanes reopened about 10:45 a.m.
