1 shot, 1 injured in Northside shooting
Police still searching for suspects
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spent most of Saturday morning on the Northside trying to piece together exactly what led to a shooting late Friday night. Police responded to a shooting on West 24th Street.
The victim said he was shot several streets away and that a friend was also shot. The second victim was found dead inside a home near West 27th Street and Chase Avenue located near Moncrief Road and Myrtle Avenue North.
Neighbors in the area say seeing crime scene tape has become all too common and it is time for it to stop.
Investigators had to wait on a search warrant to get inside the home where police say the person was found shot and killed. One woman heard the gunshots late Friday night and she was getting ready to go to bed.
One man, who did not want to be identified, says he is moving out of the area soon because of the violence. He says people can not let their children play outside.
"Nope you got to be out there 24/7 to watch them," says the man.
Neighbors are now hoping that a shooter is arrested quickly.
Some neighbors didn't even want to say anything about the shooting, because they fear they might be targets of retaliation if they do.
