Child abandoned in stranger's car identified

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the infant girl left abandoned in a stranger's car, along with the woman who left her.

?Police said the woman was walking with the child along San Juan Avenue. A man told police the woman jumped into his passenger seat with the child, then jumped out and ran west toward Lakeshore Boulevard, leaving the child behind.

The child was described as a black female, between 6 and 12 months old.

The woman who left the child was described as a black female between 18 and 20 years old. She's about 5 foot 6 inches tall and has black shoulder length dreads with blonde tips. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and pink shorts.

John Harrell with the Department of Children and Families says the baby is in a foster home. DCF has begun its investigation.
