Gov. Scott appoints new 4th Circuit judge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday announced the appointment of Steven Fahlgren to the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, serving Clay, Duval and Nassau counties.

He fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Judge E. McRae Mathis.

Fahlgren, 50, of Hilliard, has served as a municipal attorney for the town of Hilliard since 2007 and has a private law practice. Previously, Fahlgren practiced with Fisher, Rushmer, Werrenrath, Dickson, Talley and Dunlap, PA from 1997-2001. He also practiced with Foster and Kelley from 1994-1997.

Fahlgren received his bachelor's and law degrees from University of Florida. 

"Steve's experience and past leadership have distinguished him in the courtroom," Scott said in a statement.
