Jacksonville Zoo welcomes baby giraffe

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens welcomed a new member to its family this month.

According to the zoo's Facebook page, on Jan. 17 one of its giraffes gave birth to a healthy 193-pound female.

Born at 6 feet, 2 inches tall, the baby is already on exhibit and plays with other young giraffes.

Her parents are Naomi and Duke and she is Duke's 14th calf.

The zoo will auction off the chance to give her a name, along with the names of a young male giraffe and several lion cubs, at Exzooberation in early April.  It will be the zoo's 20th anniversary of its largest fundraising event.
