Navy to practice annual anti-terrorism exercise

MAYPORT, Fla. – Navy installations across the country will be participating in an anti-terrorism exercise in February, including Mayport in Jacksonville.

Mayport will be participating in Exercise Solid Curtain/Citadel Shield 2015 (SC/CS15) from February 2-13.

Naval commanders describe SC/CS as the largest force protection exercise done across the entire department of defense. It is not in response to a specific threat, officials say, but a regularly scheduled practice designed to help better train the Navy in case of a threat.

Although they are making efforts to avoid disruption to people living near the base, Naval officers say people may see increased traffic or delays into and out of Navy installations, as well as an increased military presence.
