Man convicted of shooting people at birthday party

JACKSONVILLE, FLa. – Arthur Lee Britt, 31, was convicted this week of shooting at people leaving a birthday party in November 2013.

During the party at a home on Merseyside Avenue, one of the victims became upset and asked everyone to leave after Britt made insulting comments. As the victims walked outside, Britt confronted them with a gun and began firing. One victim was struck in the leg and another victim was grazed by a bullet. They later recovered from their injuries.

Britt was convicted of two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of attempted manslaughter.

Britt now faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 45 years. He will be sentenced the week of March 2.
