SJC middle school student arrested with 2 knives

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A student in the after-school program at Gamble Rogers Middle School were dismissed early when a student was caught showing another student a knife in the gym, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the knife was not produced in a threatening manner, but the school resource officer was notified. When the deputy approached the student, the boy acted uncomfortable and hesitant to and over his backpack. When it was searched, a second knife was found.

School officials, acting in an abundance of caution, canceled the remaining after-school activities and sent everyone home.

The student was arrested. No information was released on the students age or grade.
