1 found dead in front of laundromat, 1 injured

No suspect info, gunmen fled the scene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after one person was found dead in front of a laundromat on the northwest side of town Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a shooting at Discount Coin Laundry, located at 5500 Soutel Drive near New Kings Road.

When police arrived, they found 33-year-old Carlos McGhee dead with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk outside the laundromat.

Police said McGhee was shot multiple times as he tried to flee from a gunman who appeared unexpectedly from alongside of the business. The gunman continued to run across the front of the business chasing after a second victim, 24-year-old Henry Gamble.

Gamble was shot in the leg and torso and was transported to UF Health.

One woman inside Metro PCS was taken to the hospital after having a panic attack.

Police said the gunman ran across the parking lot and fled the scene.

Authorities do not yet have a description of the gunman.

The investigation is ongoing.
