FHP says 2 others taken to Flagler Hospital

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A 59-year-old driver was killed and two people injured in a crash Friday night when a car making a U-turn on State Road 16 was struck by a vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol

William B. Beck, 59, was killed Friday night when his Ford Fusion collided with a Ford Mustang about 8:45 p.m. on S.R. 16 near South Francis Road.

Both vehicles were traveling west on State Road 16 when Beck attempted a U-turn and was struck in the side by Charles Keith Missildine's Mustang, according to FHP.

Beck died at the scene. Troopers said Patricia S. Beck, 59, a passenger in the Fusion, was taken to Flagler Hospital with minor injuries.

Missildine, the driver of the Mustang, was also taken to Flagler Hospital. He had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Kristina Carrion was sitting on her deck when she heard the crash which happened right across the street from her home.

"They ended up having to pry him out. From what I was told, he doesn't have life-threatening injuries. But we did see him get taken out and put onto the stretcher and taken away," said Carrion.

FHP says it is still investigating the crash and charges could be pending.
