Crash involving school bus on Westside

FHP: Bus rear-ended by car; no students on bus

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A school bus was involved in a crash with injuries on the Westside, Wednesday morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol was called to Interstate 295 northbound at 103rd Street in reference to a crash with injuries.

Troopers said a Toyota Camry driven by Tammy Taber, 42, rear-ended a school bus on exit ramp from the highway.

No students were on the bus during the crash, but Taber and a 13-year-old passenger in the car were taken to Orang Park Medical Center with minor injuries.

Taber told troopers she tried to stop for the bus, but her foot slipped off the break pedal.

According to the FHP report, Taber was charged with careless driving.

The I-295 northbound ramp to 103rd Street was closed for about an hour while troopers cleared the crash.

The details surrounding the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
