Paul Renner raises $31K for House race

Palm Coast Republican Paul Renner raised $31,000 in February as he seeks to win an April special election to succeed state Rep. Travis Hutson, R-Elkton.

Renner had raised an overall total of $238,130 as of Feb. 28, while spending $232,879, according to a newly filed finance report. The vast majority of the contributions and spending came before Renner won a Jan. 27 GOP primary in House District 24, which includes Flagler County and parts of St. Johns and Volusia counties.

Renner's Democratic opponent in the April 7 special general election, Adam Morley of St. Augustine, had raised a total of $3,053 as of Feb. 28.

The special election was called because Hutson is running for a Senate seat that became vacant in November when former Sen. John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine, resigned to become president of Florida State University.
