Connie Benham

Candidate for City Council District 6

Party:  Republican

Age:  53

Family:  Married over 27 years to Charles (Chuck) Benham. We have two children, a son Colton who just joined the Navy and a daughter Cala who attends Mandarin High.

Occupation:  Wife, Mother, School/Community Volunteer, Community Activist

Education:  High school, College for Business Administration, US Navy-5 years

Political experience:  I became active in local politics in 2010. Since that time I've attended countless meetings and addressed city leadership on numerous issues that affect the community. I have grown proficient in reading and understanding our Charter, Municipal Code and Florida Statutes. My attention to detail has helped me be an effective government watchdog over taxpayer money. My activities and work with city personnel have already helped save Duval taxpayers money.
Having established relationships with state legislators I can work on city issues on a state level. Knowledgeable of the issues that face our community I'll work hard for the community and pursue an end to the practice of "business as usual".

What do you see as the top three issues in this race?

  • Over the last few years the Budget has grown and debt has never been higher. So reigning in the wasteful spending of taxpayer money by Jacksonville city government is a must.
  • Supporting "Government in the Sunshine" and open, public debate on all local issues.
  • Responsible and predictable growth decisions.
