Motorcyclist killed in Putnam County

SUV driver flown to UF Health Gainesville

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Putnam County late Sunday night.

The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. at Comfort Road and U.S. 17 in Palatka.

Shane Eric Guidry of Palatka was speeding southbound on U.S. 17 when he rear-ended a Chevy Blazer, driven by 24-year-old Ronald L. Thomas Jr. 

Guidry was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Both vehicles flipped several times.

Thomas, who was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report, was thrown from the SUV and seriously injured. He was flown to UF Health Gainesville.

FHP is investigating the crash.
