DOJ: Colorado man sold marijuana plants to Jacksonville man

Gavin Harris, 45, convicted of conspiracy to cultivate, distribute marijuana

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Colorado man was convicted Wednesday of conspiracy to cultivate and distribute marijuana after he sold pot plants to a Jacksonville resident.

Department of Justice officials said Gavin Harris, 45, sold approximately 900 pot plants to the Jacksonville resident for distribution in Jacksonville Beach.

Law enforcement officials seized the plants, which valued about $1 million, in Colorado grow houses.

The DOJ said the conspiracy, which involved nine others, lasted from March 2010 to September 2011, and involved the purchasing and transportation of hundreds of pounds of marijuana from California and Colorado to Florida.

Harris faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
