Sex-crime convict sentenced to 11 life terms

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 44-year-old Jacksonville man convicted last month on 19 charges of sexual battery and molestation of children was sentenced this week to seven mandatory life sentences, with four of the sentences to be served consecutively.

Jon Lance Carson, 44, also received four life sentences without parole and eight 30-year sentences.

Carson was convicted on seven counts of sexual battery on a child under 12, eight counts of sexual battery on a child 12–18 and four counts of lewd molestation on a child under 12.

In August 2012, Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers were notified of repeated sexual abuse by Carson on four child victims. The abuse occurred between 2003 and 2012. At least one victim was 8 years old when the abuse began.

Carson is also charged with two counts of criminal solicitation in a related case in which he was accused of trying to hire someone to kill two of his victims so they could not testify against him. A trial date has not been set in that case.
