Woman dies, 2 hurt in Middleburg crash

FHP: 77-year-old woman riding as passenger in car dies


MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A woman was killed and two others were injured in an car accident Wednesday afternoon in Middleburg, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the crash happened at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers said a Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven northbound on Blanding Boulevard by Keith Thomas, 50, turned left into a Kangaroo gas station in front of a southbound Nissan Versa, driven by Donna Lenox, 53.

Lenox's car struck Thomas' pickup and overturned.

Troopers said the 77-year-old passenger in Lenox's car, Elizabeth Groves, died in the crash. Lenox was seriously injured.

Thomas had minor injuries and is expected to be OK, FHP said.

Charges in the crash are pending, troopers said.
