JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Loved ones gathered Wednesday evening to remember a father of five who was shot and killed outside a gas station Sunday in Murray Hill.
They prayed and lit candles for Troy Colton, 30, near the Sunoco station off McDuff Avenue.
Colton was putting air in his car's tires when he was shot. His girlfriend and 2-year-old daughter were in the car.
The crime fighting group MAD DADS was also at the vigil, hoping the killer is caught soon.
"We're here because a murderer is still on the loose," said Donald Foy. "A murderer killed an individual in broad daylight, 3 p.m. right in front of his children and fiancée. We call that an animal. We need to remove him from the streets of Jacksonville."
MAD DADS said it plans to canvass the area next week for information in the killing.
A funeral for Colton is set for this Saturday at a church on the Westside.
