Fight at Lee High leads to shootout rumors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fight Friday morning involving eight students at Robert E. Lee High School led to rumors that caused several worried parents to call the News4Jax newsroom Friday, asking about the violence.

The parents expressed concern that the fight might lead to more violence later in the day, after rumors of a planned shootout began circulating.

A News4Jax crew went to the school about 10 a.m. to check things out and were told by a source that the school was not on lock down and that things were calm.

News4Jax also contacted a spokesperson for the school board, who said the fight was isolated but that extra security was put in place as a precaution.

The school will conduct an investigation into the students involved in the fight to decide if the students will receive punishment.
