Police identify pedestrian struck, killed by car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 44-year-old woman was struck by a car Saturday afternoon while crossing the street and later died, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said Mary Brown-Lee was crossing Golfair Boulevard at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue at 4:25 p.m. when she was struck. Investigators said the woman was taken to UF Shands Jacksonville, but died from her injuries.

The driver who struck the woman stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. Her name was not released and there was no information about whether or not that person would be ticketed.
