Khan's Shipyards plan gets top committee score

Committee scores 3 plans before sending recommendation to DIA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A three-member committee that looked over the three proposals for the Shipyards re-development gave the highest score to Jaguars owner Shad Khan's plan.

The Shipyards Evaluation Committee gave a composite score of 77.33 to Iguana Investments, the company crated by Khan.

Shitaki Enterprises received an 18.33 and local business In Him received a 4.00.

The proposals were scored on team qualifications and experience, redevelopment vision and financial capacity.

Khan's group estimates more than $500 million in private investment funds will be needed to make its proposal happen.

The committee's recommendation now goes to the Downtown Investment Authority on Thursday.
