Lack of hydrants cause JFRD to use tanker trucks to douse house fire
Home destroyed; couple was away when fire started
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firefighters said flames were shooting out of a Picketville home when they arrived Thursday night.
With no nearby hydrants to work with, Jacksonville Fire Rescue called tanker trucks to help battle the blaze.
Fire officials said the home on Bluebird Road is a total loss, and even though the fire does not appear suspicious, the state fire marshal was called to investigate.
Neighbors told News4Jax a man and woman live in the home but they were not there when the fire started.
The house is about 600 square feet and valued at around $20,000.
