Farm Share food distribution event

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Saturday thousands of local people lined up in the parking lot of the Gateway Mall where Farm Share Food Bank distributed food to needy families.

Farm Share works with Florida farmers to prevent food waste and distribute healthy food, like fruit, vegetables, milk, bread, and juices, to those who need it most.

Saturday kicked off the 23rd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive Kick Off. All food collected will be distributed to local agencies.
Last year over 250,000 pounds of food was collected and distributed.

Farm Share is also announcing the Letter Carriers food drive which will happen on Saturday May 9.  That's when you can leave donations in your mailbox.

"We're asking the public to fill those bags we are delivering in your mailbox this week with nonperishable food items peanut butter canned foods, any of that so we can feed needy families," Bob Henning, president NALC said.

Farm Share also visited Tallahassee and Miami Saturday.
