Woman critically injured crossing University Blvd.

Woman on life support at UF Health Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman hit by a car on University Boulevard at Barnes Road on Friday night was so critically injured, her husband is being asked to make the difficult decision to remove her from life support.

Jacqualine Warren-Weinrich was struck shortly before 10 pm. and transported to UF Health Jacksonville.

Her husband, Robert Weinrich, said she crossing University, but stopped in the middle of the road because the light changed.

"I looked at her, I looked away, so I know she stopped, I looked away and looked back at her, and I didn't see her, all I saw was her shoes on the ground," he said.

Robert Weinrich said he ran over to her and saw her on the ground. He said he threw his body on top of hers so that she didn't get hit again as people began to stop traffic.

One day later, the husband is still waiting with her.

"Either watch my wife suffer on life support or be the hand that lets her go," said Robert Weinrich. "I'm hoping for a miracle."

Police have not identified the driver that struck Jacqualine Warren-Weinrich, or said if any charges would be filed.
