Truck pulled from Mandarin pond, driver found safe

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office divers searched for driver, who was later found safe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The driver of a pickup truck that flipped into a pond in Mandarin has been found safe, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Police had been searching for the driver after divers pulled the empty pickup out of a pond near Old St. Augustine Road and Greenland Road.

News4Jax spoke to a father who said his son might have been behind the wheel and he had not heard from him in hours.

According to JSO, K-9 teams searched the woods in the area. Beer cans were found in the water, so they believe alcohol may have been involved in the crash.

The driver's name has not been released.
